Care to Help – Your Job as a DSP
As a DSP – caregiver you will assist individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome and other disabilities. You’ll help with everyday activities such as:
· Preparing meals
· Helping them eat
· Talking with them
· Playing games or watching movies together

Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional


Minimum Qualifications

    • BA or BS in related field preferred (Education, Psychology or Social Work)
    • 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a school,
      residential, or supported living setting
    • Proficient in the ability to use a computer
    • Knowledge of appropriate developmental training programs
    • Knowledge of Group Home (ICF) operational procedures
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be eligible to be an approved company driver and med passer

Main Responsibilities

    • Developing ISPs for each individual
    • Coordinating all aspects of the ISP services to ensure quality services
    • Providing supportive service and active treatment for individuals
    • Coordinating and developing community resources
    • Serving as a role model, mentor, and teacher of staff; supervising and measuring staff performance
    • Creating an environment that fosters supported routines for individuals with developmental disabilities

ICF House Manager


Minimum Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED; BA or BS in related field preferred
    • Supervisory experience; 1 year preferred
    • Must be eligible to be an approved company driver and med passer
    • Proficient in the ability to use a computer
    • Competent in basic banking and budgeting procedures
    • Knowledge of developmental disabilities, medical terminology, and licensure requirements
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Main Responsibilities

    • Provide direct supervision to DSPs and support staff
    • Ensure that the home meets Licensure and Medicaid guidelines and standards
    • Responsible for the staffing, scheduling, and training of employees in the home
    • Ability to demonstrate and model person centered planning techniques
    • Generation of reports, participation in team meetings, maintaining house and individual bank accounts, and completing the payroll on a weekly basis
    • Maintaining on-call duties

Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED
    • Valid Ohio driver’s license
    • Ability to work congenially with others, courteous approach
    • Alertness in recognizing problems needing attention

    • Willingness to learn
    • Ability to assist in evacuation of individuals from unit or facility as appropriate
    • Knowledge of appropriate developmental-treatment programs; knowledge of the rights of the retarded; and the ability to promote human dignity and protect the constitutional rights of the individuals
    • Knowledge of safety practices, grooming techniques, cleaning and sanitizing methods
    • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, knowledge of basic mental retardation terminology, programs and services; knowledge of elementary human development programs and terminology; knowledge of basic evaluation, observation techniques
    • Ability to communicate with developmentally disabled, disoriented, and emotionally disturbed individuals
    • Ability to communicate openly and honestly with parents, relatives, and Guardians of the individuals
    • Ability to express individual progress or behaviors in writing and orally

Main Responsibilities

    • Assists individuals with any activities; acting as teacher, a coach, and a mentor encouraging independence and assisting as needed
    • Assists with transportation of individuals
    • Monitors and insures individual participation and satisfaction
    • Provides personal care: Feeding, toileting and care of incontinent individuals, changing clothing
    • Performs individual mobility activities: Transferring, positioning, cart use of Hoyer lift (if required), or other activities per ISP
    • Encourages individuals to be as independent as they can be and promoting freedom of choice
    • Completes all documentation in an accurate and timely manner
    • Assures individual uses any adaptive equipment as per ISP
    • Participates in the individuals Day Program Interdisciplinary Team in the development and implementation of the ISP
    • Ensures and maintain a safe and clean facility
    • Attends all required meetings and training and keeps CPR/First Aid up to date

ICF Nurse


Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing and State of Ohio License, current with required CEUs
  • Verification of pharmacology course (NAPNES-OPNES)
  • Valid Ohio driving license and eligibility to be an approved company driver
  • MEffective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare and Licensure regulations preferable
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferable

    Main Responsibilities

    • Delegation of nursing tasks only in accordance with the Board of Nursing that specifically addressed delegation under the direction of the Registered Nurse
    • Responsible for training of DSPs the skills needed to perform a selected task according to the rules of Board of Nursing and DoDD laws/rules
    • Responsible to provide supervision and professional nursing care to the individuals under the direction of the Registered Nurse
      Responsible for nursing quality control measures
    • Administration of medication as required
    • Implement measures to promote a safe environment for all individuals
    • Collects data and provides written input for individual ISP meetings
